Since Supers can go through gates, Alliances are mainly fighting over the regional gate systems. Why attack from somewhere that you can bring in supers by cyno, when you can win the fight for a regional gate system and just gate your supers in? D4KU - Hophib has been the core of NCdot/Horde vs. Init fighting. Init dropped supers and caps a few times to defend because NCdot/Horde supers and caps aren't in range unless they go through the gate. Going through the gate is super risky because bubbles will stop you from cynoing out and Hics can stop you from going through the gate.

DK4U fell yesterday. Now Horde has anchored an I-hub. Soon a fort and maybe a Keepstar will follow. Then jump bridges. But it brings NCdot/Horde supers in to Fountain. If you can't win the regional gate system with super and cap advantage, how will you win the rest of the region? You probably won't. so RIP Init in Fountain.

The big question was: Why didn't Init set their timers to a different TZ than goons so goons could help Init in EU, and Init could help Goons in US? Which leads to follow up questions of: did goons not care about Init like all their other 'valued' coalition members, and where will Init go now? Will Init put their titans and supers on the field to defend Goons in Delve when Goons clearly didn't care to do to same for them?

yeh Init dropped the ball, I in NC can say that the regional gate hiphop-d4ku was hard to take but we dropped into Jasson and then if needed into d4k. Was not that hard but Init did not defend except the carrier feed.

    https://pastebin.com/zVSK12ZZ\
    ^ thats the Init spin.

I dont care much what (Init-)Brisc rubal or Pando or Sister bliss says. Holding d4ku was the easiest thing for them to hold. Now they think they can do 'Once we have no structures left we will pivot to help allies and aggressively counter attack our enemies'. All fine with me but mostly Horde smell blood in the water and all of fountain is flooded. IGE is the main systmen Init has now and they keep getting freighters out with titans.

We all know the real slug fest is in Delve but Fountain collapsing in 10 days we did not expect.

On the other side Test and Goons are having a real struggle for the regional gate in Pure Blind. Goons entosis some, Test win it back etc.

We expected this to take a minimum of 12 months (taking delve core 1DQ/NOL etc).
    We are 3 weeks in.

Third, it is accepted as being self-evident..

    "Sold out"?

To whom and for how much?

As for what we will do, why of course we will fall to pieces, because holding that special specific sov is everything to us and without it there's no point

Hmm yes, didn't want that space anyway
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

I personally was bored of Fountain a year ago. Whaling is all very well, but when it's the only fun going it gets old fast. I re-subbed when TEST did everyone a favour and ended the NIP.

Incidentally it's deeply amusing how closely the tone of this thread matches the equivalent one from 4 years ago. Aliventi talks about "history" but he doesn't seem to have learned much from it.

    Why blue goons then?

Really? This again? You've been told this about 857 times already but w/e

Short answer: it is not possible to live in sov null without allies. Every other ally we've tried has been worthless or actively untrustworthy. Goons are good allies and have always helped us when we asked, left us to do our thing when we didn't, and kept their agreements in word and spirit.

But the question in context of being bored of whaling is nonsensical. Are goons the only alliance that does anything other than rorqual-mine? Goons live in 2 out of 38(?) nullsec regions, compared to 9 for Legacy, 5 or 6 (I can never remember how many drone regions there are) for NCPLH, etc.

It seems weird to defend an alliance which bored you into unsubbing

But they didn't. The Imperium led at least 2 major campaigns. RestOfEVE didn't want to do shit until they outnumbered us 3:1. I'd prefer 2:1 since that seems to be the upper limit of where our FCs are willing to engage and the lower limit for theirs, but really it's not goons fault that NCPL did shit all for 3 years after WWB/Casino War/whatever apart from cannibalise their former allies.

And remember what I said: it is not possible to survive in sov space without allies. It would be nice if it was, and maybe if CCP wake up to the notion that relaxing power projection restrictions has once again returned 0.0 to a 2-bloc state and reinstate PP limits we might be able to. But they'd have to be stronger than the Phoebe restrictions.

    Hasn't PL basically quit now?

They've been going through a "let's relearn how to fly drakes" phase and are now regularly seen in HACs

Brings 3 entire coalitions to attack Fountain

Is surprised when several systems are taken within 2 weeks, even though you scampered the fuck out of your entire region without a fight against half those odds

    Is NCdawt.

I'll give it 6 months, and a big deal with something reasonably clear being the outcome.

This comes from me who a month ago was calling it fake.

Goons may not have lied to you, but I don't see any of their 3 regions on fire like Fountain is... Yet.

There are plenty of people living in SOV without friends. Tribute and Vale are full of them. Cloud Ring too. You mean Init is so weak they can't take SOV from the friend-less SOV holders? How can groups with fewer supers, fewer friends, and fewer members hold SOV all by themselves, but you can't? I am not going to sit here and claim that Vale, Tribute, and Cloud Ring are premium SOV regions, but SOV is SOV.

If you are scared of holding SOV without friends, why not make your own coalition? There are plenty of smaller groups that would love to work with you.

Sov is the bane of all pvp alliances. Every time PL held sov for themselves, and not just for renting, it inevitably got fat and dumb. Losing Fountain is the first step towards something better. Trust me.
