Pretty sure they used the metric system at NASA in the '60s.

Viking, n.:
1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.
Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.

People not knowing where imperial weights and measures come from.

While in everyday life from a personal point of view it makes no difference what system one uses (leagues, cubits, els, foreskins etc) since it's mostly a matter of habit, which is also why there will never be an end to the travesty of the muh-system-of-measurements-is-better-n-yours-cause-muh-pappy-used-it, imperial measurements, as shown by Aea's pretty picture, have the added benefit of not only being especially brainfucked in terms of fractions of an inch but also would you cunts decide which system of fucking imperial measurements of volume is an actual gallon!!! For the record, US gallon is 3.8 litres and the UK gallon is 4.5 litres.

At school, I went through a period of using both Imperial and Metric at the same time.
Parents only ever used imperial while school was all metric, so I just used whichever seemed closest at the time. A box being 1m long and 1foot wide seemed just fine to me.![]()
