Having few chronic illnesses I have met many students along the way, so far I have never said no if I have been asked about a student being present or trying to do something, like take eye measurements

Anything that isn't yet another elderly chain smoker with COPD/stroke/heart disease is going to be interesting on many wards.
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.
My mum used to be an administrator for the NHS.
A guy came in with scurvy and they brought all the students in the hospital to see him, I'm not sure if they even asked him.
The mantra was basically "you will probably never see this again".
they would probably have asked him once ("Do you mind if a student attends as well?"), and used that as blanket consent for any student for the entire stay![]()
That's quite a booom right there.
I almost want to go find a flat earther group and see what they think of all these images. Almost.
But yeah, damn that was a big bada-boom right there! Amazingly no one is reported killed(?) from it.
And while it wasnt as instant as it looks on the video the fact that it went boom and then the darkness came is pretty good nightmare fuel.
I heard a report this morning that at least one person got killed, IIRC a lady that tried to rescue animals from her/a pet shelter. But there's also no communication possible with one of the islands, cell phones and internet apparently not working there, which makes me sadly expect more casualities.
[Added]
In a statement, the government confirmed three deaths: two locals and a British national.
It said some of the smaller outlying islands were particularly badly affected, with all the houses destroyed on one and just two left on another.
Communications with the island chain have been disrupted after the single underwater cable connecting Tonga to the rest of the world was severed in the eruption.
(Aerial images show Tonga cloaked in volcanic ash)

Sadly, that was to be expected. Looking at that picture above, there's more to come, I fear. That isn't even one of the islands mentioned.

Hmm, it's almost like capitalism is wholly incapable of providing an answer to climate change beyond shallow PR campaigns and boondoggle marketing initiatives.

Temporary nature-based carbon removal can lower peak warming in a well-below 2 °C scenario
(if done as a supplement to lowering emissions and not as the main approach)
