Prime95 used to be the go-to tool, but IIRC it only hits a small portion of the CPU very hard. You could try rendering something in Blender, or set Cinebench to run continuously. Ashes of the Singularity apparently has a good CPU benchmark.

Blender and Cinebench R20 are the usual multi-core CPU benchmarks nowadays. Adobe Premiere for single threaded benchmarking.

Cinebench is a benchmark that has built in scoring whereas with the other two you would need to use a stopwatch for comparisons.

Run hwmonitor alongside to check temperatures and boost clocks and thus whether your cpu throttles itself.

Im kinda paranoid that i fucked up balancing the heat sink properly.

Whats the expected variance in performance, am i worried without cause?
If it massively throttles while being at a high temperature, you migth have messed up.

I think furmark has a CPU stress test alongside it's GPU test.

Well... this is 10 mins running the "high heat load" test from OCCT:

      Spoiler:

Danger close, but not getting throttled (and roughly stable). Guess id better not touch it and just observe for a while.

    Thanks for the advice

He has multiple cores popping 90C, which is definitely toasty. But the cores are all 3.9GHz, so I'm thinking that thermal throttling is not happening.

    Which CPU, by the way?

What he said. But 90C cores / 66C board sensor is only the heat stress test, CPU-heavy gaming performance is 65C-ish, which i still dont like but wont buy a new PC for (the entire idea was to get like 3 more years out of this mobo instead of upgrading everything).

Internet says the i7 4770k throttles at 105C. 90C isn't great but 65C is definitely nothing to worry about.

I'd go so far unless you're throttling hard in every day usage, it isn't an issue. There are cases that can't run below 65°C due to construction constraints.

Leaked Zen3 benchmark is everywhere... seems like it's a good 20% faster than Zen2. If, as rumoured, the boost clock peaks up to 5Ghz, then it's going to be at least a 50% uplift over my Zen+, maybe more.

Some time ago I went out and bought a Sound Card, with the reasoning it had to better than the onboard carp in our motherboards.
I went for the Sound Blaster AE-7 a 200euro card. Not sure what my expectations where, but they certainly did not reach this high!
The onboard audio cards are genuinely crap, go get some proper sound for your machines!
Why is it called earth, when it is mostly water???

    YES this! And speakers!
I stole the Samsung Soundbar and Bass bin from our lounge as it doesn't really work with the new TV, and even hooked up through my Steelseries USB Sound car the sound is incredible! Though i keep getting shouted at to turn down the explosions
Please don't teach me what to do with my pc.
