DPD finally dragged their asses round and picked up the CPU. Scan said they'd refund me if it's faulty (p FUCKN sure it is). So now I play the waiting game I guess.
Kinda wishing I'd gone with plan B and bought another SSD whet crucial were having that sale.
One thing that I didn't mention was how smoothly windows treats hardware changes.So I've finally upgraded my rig!
I had a i5-3550 with 16 gig of 1600 MHz DDR3 and a budget ITX board.
This has been replaced with:
Itikens old Ryzen 5 3600 (A+ purchasing experience, would buy again)
16 gig 3600 MHz cas 16 ram, running @3200 MHz (got all the post codes when I tried to run it at 3600, further investigation is required)
And a Asrock B550m Steel Legend, giving me my first taste of RGB.
Managed to play Subnautica for 30 minutes before we headed off for Easter vacation...
It works, so that's good.

I removed a 10 year old Intel platform, and chucked in an AMD board, reconnected all the cables and windows just spent a few more seconds figuring out everything during startup.
This Windows install is an upgrade from the same Win 7 install i did ~9 years ago...
Also: I've updated the BIOS, so now the 3600 mhz DDR4 XMP 2.0 profile works no problemo.
Thats good to know about the XMP profile, mine wouldnt boot either. I set the settings manually tog et it to work post bios update (i chickened out from doing it via profiles).
