That's a lot of uninformed shit you're throwing around. But then I shouldn't be surprised with all the reports I keep hearing of healthcare workers refusing the vaccine.
Obv, you are more informed than practicing proffesional. Please, spare no time to set him straight with your vast amounts of knowledge on the subject.

Usually a minimum of 18 months. This is an interesting article showcasing previous vaccines development times.

It's not just about how much money and resources you throw at the problem. We still don't have a vaccine for the 2002 SARS Coronavirus (SARS-Cov-1) or the 2012 MERS Coronavirus (MERS-Cov) and these two are much more deadlier diseases. Which is exactly why the vaccine for the SARS-Cov-2 virus raises reasonable concerns regarding effectiveness and durability of the immune response.

Thinking vaccines are only about the money and resources is just wishful thinking. That's not how medicine works. We have a treatment to keep HIV under control but we still don't have a vaccine for it (as another example). Same with hepatitis C.
Except in this case thats exactly what happened. The vaccines for SARS and MERS were only stopped because there was no longer enough of a need for them to be profitable after the outbreaks were brought under control. That work was piggybacked off to get the current vaccines developed so quickly, combined with unlimited funding and the ability to run testing phases concurrently.
    We're a fucked up species :-)

Part of my point was that despite our best efforts it isn't always enough to throw money at the problem. In the case of COVID 19 we are lucky it worked out this way, I suppose. Hope the mRNA vaccine has the capacity to target mutated strains as well.

Thread title: Gorillas at San Diego Zoo Safari Park diagnosed with COVID-19

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - As many as eight gorillas at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park are presumed to have contracted COVID-19 from a human handler after one of the animals tested positive, marking the first known transmission of the virus to apes, zoo officials said on Monday.

Three among the band of critically endangered western lowland gorillas at the sprawling wildlife park have shown symptoms of the respiratory virus, such as coughing, though none appears severely ill, and all are expected to fully recover, the zoo said in online statements.

Laboratory analysis of a fecal sample collected last Wednesday from one of two gorillas initially seen coughing detected the presence of the virus two days later, zoo spokesman Andrew James said.

The positive results were confirmed on Monday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Veterinary Services Laboratories, the zoo said on its website.

This is probably because if hospitals can't prove they've given the doses to the designated people they get fined 100k per vaccine.

Whereas in the 40s NY managed to vaccinate 6 million in a couple of weeks and they hadn't even invented computers!

Well it's a bit hard when no one at all is governing, I'm not surprised nothing is happening, but I do hope the vaccine starts gettting released instead of sitting around rotting away while thousands die everyday. Even if Biden was a God Emperor and had a legion of talented and intelligent people assigned to just this one thing the hurdles and amount of bullshit not currently being handled means it'd be a nightmare, the reality is the team he has will never ne good enough, but it's better than the shit we have now.

Since supply doesn't seem to be a problem they could just go door to door giving people the vaccine and a QR code to an appointment site to turn up for their second dose.

It's just sticking a needle in someone's arm, what's the obsession with cataloging everything?

Keeping track of problems (rare but not unheard of: anaphylaxis), how it works out, etc.

Also efficiency once the availability ramps up, as you can either just be sticking the autism into peole in a queue or travelling between each shot and knocking on doors to empty houses.

Everybody I know IRL considers me the "tech guy", and I have no clue which app on my phone I'd need to open to use one.

And just to prove how shithouse the Government, Health "Experts" and the media are at informing the public.

Interim stage three test results came out suggesting that the AstraZeneca vaccine is 62% effective. This has kick off a circus with one set of health experts wanting the vaccine dropped for other vaccines while other health experts say no these aren't final results and % effectiveness is just one measure and wait until the TGA goes through the regulatory process of approving the various vaccines.

Then there is a lot of blather about herd immunity while State Governments shit themselves over the UK mutated strain getting out of Quarantine.

And the media reports all this before bring in their own experts who then weigh in as well.

Meanwhile the various grifters, morons and rabble rousers are pointing and shouting "we told you not to trust them".

    What a fucking mess.
