He was making a bad "politically correctness gone mad" joke, I'm guessing about the name "Bushido".

Heh. That's the least politically incorrect thing about this dude by far. Not that cultural appropriation is discussed much in Germany to begin with. (I just tried to find examples, almost everything in German was about the US.)

Bavaria obviously not included in German economic counter-measures.
Bavaria announced a grant for artists: 1180/month on top of federal grants. Next year young artists can get a one time grant of 5000 on top of federal grants.

They are also paying each principal a bonus of 500. Such a bonus will also be paid to 14,000 teachers that did extraordinary work in digitalization and remote teaching.

There is a social insurance for artists that is part of the German welfare system providing health insurance and pensions. Membership in their scheme is apparently necessary to get those grants. To qualify one must earn a sort of income solely through selling one's art. And you can't have more than one employee.

Influencers are considered working in advertising, judging by how they are legally mandated to disclose every post that contains paid ads.

In reality, worst case of cyberpunk scenarios, slowly becomes reality.

The laptop isn't the means of production. In a financialised economy the legal entity of the firm is.
Most bigger companies don't let you bring your own laptop to work.

Frogs fleeing their capital. Because of beheadings? No, because of lockdowns.

In today's doomsday progress report from great(est) nation of Serbia!

1500 new infected out of 11000 tested. Breaking all the records. "No new measures are needed, only stricter respect of current measures, we must think about the economy and about going on living". Current measures in practice mean that maybe 65% of people wear masks correctly in public transport and grocery stores. Pubs and restaurants are filled now that it's too cold to stay outside, only waiters are wearing masks (and also that depends from place to place, in some of most exclusive cafes they are not, not to traumatise the guests I guess). Some patrons maybe put masks on when entering, leaving and going to the WC, no one has mask on at a table while drinking or dining. In the open air no one but the most paranoid wears masks. Schools are still working, as are gyms. I think that sports matches are without audience, so something at least.

I'm expecting hospital space to run out in 2,3 days and then for panic to hit the benevolent and wise leader.

Oh and we just had two day gala opening of new shopping mall in new "Belgrade Waterfront", supposedly largest and bestestest shopping mall in the Balkans.

Edit. Because I'm in whiny mood.

Contact tracing is something that was abandoned in late April due to lack of capacity and remains like that. Drive in testing is science fiction for rich countries. They magnificently started building two new hospitals during the summer just before elections and I think they have dug out the pits for the foundations, maybe started pouring concrete for the foundations at best.

Most of people who are not buying the government line are sucking the Qanon crap and are on the "plandemic" crowd. Maybe 1 in 20 or 1 in 50 will say that government is drastically undercounting the infected and the dead. 3 out of 10 will say that actual numbers are much lower if not zero and that official numbers are way inflated or completely made up and there is no corona.

It's a shit situation. Just over the border, I lost another job I was supposed to have this month, which brings my total earnings this whole year to about 2k euros. I don't qualify for unemployed support (because I didn't have xy straight months of work in the last 2 years, yey freelancing) and my savings are slowly but surely running out, so I got no idea how I'm gonna support my parents with shit pensions in a couple of months.

And that is, I think, the biggest issue we're facing all over the planet. If you're lucky and have savings or live in a country where you get some financial support, you can weather the storm until hopefully a vaccine is made or this is somehow solved. The problem is a lot of people literally don't have the option and have kids to feed and rents to pay and loans to return, and then work out different explanations as to why they don't "believe" in covid and want to take the risk and "go on living normally", and the savings and government support will run out sooner or later, depends how lucky you are with the country you're in.

Shit situation is shit, and when you take into consideration the fact that yes, a lot of people have died connected to covid, but percentagewise it pales to the number of people that have been affected not by sickness directly but by all the effects on economy... I dunno. We're fucked.

    Take care, neighbour

Have you tried exploring commercial options for the Lief dildo mould? Maybe an only fans collaboration
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

Generally speaking, I'm just fine, thanks for asking! My job is secure, I do it from home, my loved ones are OK, etc. On the other hand.. my life is really only work now. My home is also my office and has been since March. Going places? Meh. I should count myself as a person who runs a higher risk of bad plague effects (asthma), so I've been pretty damn careful. Which translates to pretty damn alone (company of beloved Overspark excluded ). At work I am now at the point of working 2 hours overtime every day - nobody's seen much of each other since March, so misunderstandings are bloody everywhere, which translates to Buttload of Work (tm). I try to keep sight of the things I am grateful for, which is good health, security, plenty of love, etc. So, really, just very 2020

    How are you?

Reading your story gave me the feels and sympathy.

There's a group of people here who only rave about the economic side of things. While they are certainly right that people's living is part of the equation, I worry that the virus will leave us with other economic problems down the road. As Hel rightly points out, many people sustain some type of damage from an infection. I personally know one person who was perfectly healthy before and now cannot work full time. The longer revalidation takes (without results), the more you fear that it will be permanent. I doubt this person is unique.

I wish our government would take some sort of stand and then be consistent about it. It's all wavering and 'waiting to see'. I doubt this will end well. A quick, hard lock down a while ago for a few weeks would probably have been better for everyone, also economically speaking. We may see some stabilizing now, but the numbers are very high. It has its effects on regular healthcare, which will be a problem for many sooner or later.

Good to hear you're alright am doing good, work is letting me move to Portugal and work remotely from there, so I'm flying out on 21st November before the Withdrawal Agreement ends so I can get residency in time. Moved out of my flat and am crashing at my sister's place until then, getting fat and enjoying being around people regularly again. Can't really complain tbh

And I got it easy compared to most. I had some savings, have no kids, no loans or rent to pay (moved back home to save money). Now imagine all the folks that do not have these "advantages" (who woulda thought my tactic of having nothing would pay off, heh).

So while I do understand people who are annoyed by people who focus more on economics than health, it IS a fucking serious problem that is getting worse day by day. This virus will fuck up many more people indirectly than directly. Grrr. All solutions are basically different shades of bad.

Deal with the medical emergency and provide a safety net for the economic one. Provide stimulus for a recovery that shifts the world closer to a carbon neutral future.

It's not fucking complex. It is however fucking unlikely to be implemented.

It actually is, there comes a point where many countries will find it difficult to borrow more.

    Viking, n.:
    1. Daring Scandinavian seafarers, explorers, adventurers, entrepreneurs world-famous for their aggressive, nautical import business, highly leveraged takeovers and blue eyes.
    2. Bloodthirsty sea pirates who ravaged northern Europe beginning in the 9th century.

Hagar's note: The first definition is much preferred; the second is used only by malcontents, the envious, and disgruntled owners of waterfront property.
