    [Wednesday] Gongylus gongylodes

    Gongylus gongylodes

Gongylus gongylodes, also known as the wandering violin mantis, ornate mantis or Indian rose mantis, is an insect of the order Mantodea. This is one of the more bizarre looking mantises.

Getting Internet installed at new house today, this would be great if Hermes wasn't a shit delivery company who failed to deliver my router 3 times and wouldn't answer the phone when I tried to call to arrange a more sensible delivery time or place.

Finally finished Farscape (and peacekeeper wars). Jesus that was painful and took me ages because it didn't grip me at all

About 2-3 episodes a season were good, most were so weird I swear the creators were tripping on acid every episode.

Need to decide what to watch next.

Your life whooshing by as you waste it watching sci fi?
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

Mayte I watched every episode of TNG last year and in no way was it a waste of time, even the planet of the niggers episode.

Man, just got bitten by a massive huntsman spider. It is pissing down in Sydney and spiders often get inside to stay dry. Was gathering up the laundry basket and got the spider trapped between the base and my hand.

The puncture marks are 1.5 centimetres apart.

I need to catch the bugger and toss it outside.

Do the bites swell or just initial pain? When my Tarantula bit me it felt almost like nothing initially but it swelled up and hurt horribly afterwards for hours.

It is swelling into welts and beginning to itch like shit. The bite was like being stabbed by two pins but wasn't really that painful.

I have been bitten before and huntsmen - which are from the tarantula family too I think - are only dangerous if you are allergic and go into anaphylactic shock.

Think they are separate from Tarantulas, but yeah I knew they were not deadly to humans in normal circumstances.
