Heard of it, haven't seen it yet. But I'm pretty confident that if it shows up on Netflix or Amazon Prime here in Germany, I'll at least have a look at it.

There are few exceptions to my sci-fi consumption. One if it is Space Balls, as I can't stand Mel Brooks scheme of parodies. We all loudly blame Hollywood for prequels, sequels, remakes and lament about their lack of creativity. Well, I consider parodies among the least creative art forms, especially when done like he did them. It's just copying iconic, often genre-defining movies and throwing some cheesy "fun lines" at it. Not my cup of tea.

That's also why I was very hesitant to watch The Orville. To my surprise, I liked it.

The Lexx episodes are up on Youtube, assuming they aren't blocked in Germany

I was young enough back then that i thought i was watching softcore porn. Needless to say, i ended up disappointed.

Lower Decks is growing on me. Sure, its two parts Futurama to one part Archer, but at least it pays lip service to classic Trek.

Also, the last line in episode 3 had me laughing, and i dont even know why. O'Brian was a badass.

It's sort of un-growing on me but that was the first genuinely funny joke and it was a good one.

      Spoiler:

edit: alright, episode 4 re-growed. mostly because they fleshed out what i said before was the best part of the show so you're all welcome i saved star trek

Good news: Star Trek is coming back to broadcast television.

Bad news: It's season 1 of Discovery.

    https://www.cbr.com/star-trek-discovery-cbs-fall/

CBS has a massive hole in their schedule to fill due to COVID, and since they haven't aired Discovery on TV yet, they're going to put it on Thursdays. It'll be at 10pm, of course, since it's not family-friendly programming...

i really like lower decks. it fills the same niche for me that archer or rick&morty did. short episodes, silly, decent quality. not a trek head myself though, how has it been received by the serious business trek fans?

It's cringey but growing on me... More trek than STD or Picard.

Will repeat, I liked Voyager, and I liked Mulgrew. I know many here didn't.

It was easy enough to watch and Mulgrew was ace. But then I mostly liked Enterprise as well.

All that timetravel crap though. It's difficult to pull off at the best of times and the Voyager writers were just lazy about it.

Voyager writers were also all over the map with Janeway's character, but she's a fine actor and could ham it up with the best of them.

Still listening to The Delta Flyers btw, Tom and Harry are getting p. good at this podcasting thing.
